Judy Lijdsman

Judy studied dance and drama at ArtEZ (Arnhem), Codarts (Rotterdam), and Theaterschool De Trap (Amsterdam). In addition, she attended workshops both in the Netherlands and abroad. Judy danced for six years with the dance company De Stilte and has been working as an actress in theatre, film, and television since 2009. She is a versatile, physical performer with a love for text and humor.

Judy creates and performs solo productions and has performed with, among others, de Veenfabriek, TG42, Likeminds, De Onderneming, SALIX Kameropera and in several productions by De Nationale Opera. She has performed at festivals such as Oerol, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Amsterdam Fringe Festival, Bosch Parade, and the Amsterdams Kleinkunst Festival. On television, she appeared in the VPRO series The Spectacular, Flikken Maastricht, Dokter Tinus, and Amsterdam Undercover, and in the youth series MediaMasters, Judy plays the authoritarian camp leader Mevrouw Bonksel. As a tram ambassador, Judy was the comedic face of the campaign for Tram22 in Utrecht, and she also appeared in commercials for, among others, IKEA, LeasePlan, and the moving Christmas commercial for ANWB.

For her role in the short film De Groeikans, Judy was nominated for the Best Acting Award in a Supporting Role. In 2026, two feature films in which Judy appears will premiere: Zorg and the family film HalloWiebe:Overdrive, in which Judy plays the nerdy newcomer Nancy. HalloWiebe:Overdrive will be shown in Dutch cinemas from September 2026.

In the 2024–2025 and 2025–2026 seasons (reprise), Judy toured Dutch theatres with her solo performance You’re too cute to be an astronaut (direction: Sytske van der Ster), which received an outpouring of praise from the press, audiences, and prominent figures. Due to its success, the performance will also be shown in several theatres and at festivals in 2026 and 2027. In addition to her work as an actress, Judy also works as a writer (including text writing), as a presenter for, among others, the Amsterdams Kleinkunst Festival, and as a voice-over artist and voice actor (for example in the NPO 3LAB film Mulata). Her voice is naturally friendly and sounds clear, engaged, and empathetic.
